Core Aeration FAQs
Core aeration is a form of lawn aeration where a series of plugs/cores are removed from your lawn. The machine is similar in size to a lawn mower and operates comparably. After the cores are removed, seed is broadcast across the entire area.
Aeration helps reduce soil compaction and thatch buildup. The plugs create pathways for oxygen, water, and nutrients to reach the root zone. Overseeding afterward promotes new grass growth in thin or damaged areas.
For cool-season grasses, early Fall is ideal, with Spring also being acceptable. Warm-season grasses benefit most from late Spring to early Summer aeration.
The lawn should be cut prior to service. If needed, our crew may perform a quick cut on site.
We target a depth of 2–3 inches, depending on soil conditions. Watering the lawn beforehand helps soften soil and improve penetration.
